Pascal Alexander Hager is Director of Computing Architecture at Axelera® AI, where he has been a part of the company since its founding. In this role, he leads the computing architecture development of Axelera AI’s accelerator chips, bringing strong analytical skills and deep expertise in computer architecture, digital signal processing, low-power system design, and embedded hardware/software integration.
Prior to Axelera AI, Pascal was a System Architect at Bitfury AI, where he designed hardware accelerators for AI applications and played a key role in the spin-out that led to the creation of Axelera AI.
Throughout his career, Pascal has combined academic excellence with industry impact. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from ETH Zürich in 2019, where his research focused on algorithms and system design for medical ultrasound imaging. He continued as a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zürich, and his work has been recognized with multiple IEEE conference awards. This strong foundation in research and innovation has shaped him into a leader who drives technological breakthroughs and practical solutions in AI acceleration.
